Not all birds will nest in a bird house. There are, however, a few birds, such as Blackbirds, Thrush, Swallows, Martins and Doves, that will appreciate a nesting shelf to raise their young. Made of quality 3/4 inch Pine, this shelf will last you for years. Nesting shelves can be placed under an eave or walkway overhang, or can be placed in a nearby tree. The exterior of the nesting shelf is protected with an eco-freindly water based stain which helps preserve the wood for a longer life. A clear seal is applied where the roof and back meet to keep water from entering nest site. We also have designed this shelf to keep shelf dry by having side wood panels protect the nest and a longer overhanging roof. A generous drainage hole is drilled in back center of nesting area to keep any water from standing should severe side rain enter.
